Back Pain: Related Diseases and Conditions

Medical disorders are interconnected and back pain is one of the best examples of this phenomenon. Therefore, you should never take back pain lightly because if you do, you will have risk developing other serious illnesses. People take back pain lightly and neglect the related condition that back pain brings with itself.

Here are some of the diseases and conditions that are caused due to back pain:

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones start to form with the accumulation of minerals, which can take the shape of a hard crystalline stone and cause serious pain in the urinary tract. Patients will feel severe pain in kidneys, groin and abdomen due to kidney stones. Furthermore, kidney stones are one of the most common causes of blood in your urine. These stones form when the volume of your urine decreases and the amount of stones forming increases. Kidney stones can also be caused by poor hydration, especially if you perform heavyweight exercises and neglect the intake of vital fluids. Kidney stones and back pain have a strong connection with each other.

Pancreatic Cancer

Another fatal disease that is closely associated with lower back pain is pancreatic cancer. This type of cancer is one of the most lethal cancers in the world because it is very difficult to identify the symptoms at an early stage. Lower back pain is one of the symptoms of pancreatic cancer. It is better to consult with a doctor if your lower back pain persists for a long time. It is better to be safe than sorry because you can only get rid of pancreatic cancer by surgically removing the cancerous tumor and the success rates of such surgeries are quite low.

Sacroiliac Joint Pain

Sacroiliac joint pain or dysfunction is a type of inflammation that results in pain in the lower part of the spine. A triangular bone known as sacrum is made up of 5 different fixed vertebrae, which are joined with one another. Sacroiliac connects the spine to the pelvis. There is negligible motion in these bones. There are ligaments to hold them together. These muscles are responsible to lift the weight of your upper body and can feel the effects of wear and tear.

Psoriatic Arthritis

Different types of arthritis cam cause inflammation in the skin and joints. It is a skin condition in which red spots and patches begin to form on the skin. The joints in your knees and elbows are more vulnerable to Psoriatic arthritis. Other parts of the body that can be affected from this disorder are scalp, navel, and genitals. This medical condition mostly occurs in people over the age of 40. Most patients are affected by the skin disease first before experiencing the inflammation in their joints.

Sciatic nerve is the biggest nerve in the body. Nerve pain occurs due to lower back pain and spreads to different areas behind the thighs and knees. The treatments vary due to the intensity of the pain. Whenever you feel pain and/or an irritation in sciatic nerve or lower back pain, consult with your doctor. Sciatica pain can be caused because of an inflammation in your muscles, internal bleeding, infections and adjacent bones. If the sciatic nerve comes under continuous pressure, it will result in temporary or permanent paralysis of your lower body.

Back pain will not take long to turn into one of these diseases. Who would have ever thought that a simple, harmless back pain could be a symptom of prostate cancer and other diseases? Whenever you feel a persistent back ache it is better to talk to your doctor instead of using painkillers because these painkillers can relieve you of pain, but will lead you to other diseases and have different side effects.
